When I was expecting my first baby, my husband's coworkers put on a baby shower for us. I took a half day off from my work and joined them for a pizza lunch, craft activity, gifts and socializing. It was beautiful to be honored by coworkers. It showed that they cared about us beyond my husband's professional performance.
Now, at the same company, most employees work remotely. Social opportunities are infrequent, but still very needed. There is still space in the company budget for team building and celebrations, but it usually doesn't happen because management is busy doing what they need to do to make their company successful.
Seeing this need, I'm thrilled to share that I'm starting to put on corporate baby showers for virtual teams!
I've been able to put on several celebrations for business teams already, and I love seeing people come together to honor a person as they prepare for their first baby! The recipients are so touched that their coworkers want to do something special for them. Having me present as the emcee creates a different feel from their normal meetings.
When planning the events, the boss or coworker meets with me for 30-45 minutes to choose the games their team would most enjoy from my list of games that work well in virtual settings. Then, I create the plan, prepare the games, gather baby photos of the future parents and provide sample wording that they can use in their reminders to help bring the experience to life for their guests.
If your coworker is expecting a baby, honor them with a Virtual Baby Shower! I'd love to help make it meaningful for them, easy for you, and fun for your team!
